Fresh Roasted Coffee, Kenya AA Nyeri Ichamara Coffee

Cupping Notes: Peach Blossom, Orange Zest, Black Tea

This African coffee is bright, complex, exceptionally sweet, and shares a perfect balance and floral fragrance that most wet-processed Kenyan coffees possess. Our Kenya AA Nyeri Ichamara coffee has less of an acidic “bite” than other African coffees, allowing those who prefer lower levels of coffee acidity to experience the dynamic wine-like brilliance, fragrant fruit notes, and silky body of our Kenya AA coffee.

Fresh Roasted Coffee
The Fresh Roasted Coffee process begins at the source. Our coffees are chosen and established with great love and greater yet – consideration of origin, flavor profile and quality. All of these components help us to deliver consistent, exceptional coffee with true approachability.

Coffee Storage
Coffee has four age old enemies; heat, light, air and moisture. The way coffee is stored is essential to keeping it fresh and ready to enjoy. Storing coffee in conditions that expose it to these elements will allow for the coffee to lose its flavor rapidly. Coffee should be stored in an airtight container. We suggest either a glass, metal or ceramic version. Coffee should not be stored in the freezer, contrary to popular belief, as it leads to moisture extracting the flavor of the coffee. Coffee beans are porous and will also absorb unwanted flavors from your freezer.

What Is In My Coffee?

Kenya AA is one of my favorites. I used to have a small coffee roaster and I would always get these to roast until they became more scarce and expensive. I had high hopes for this so I ordered the 5lb bag. It was relatively fresh when it arrived and it tastes OK, but they over-roasted it ever so slightly. At a lighter medium roast it picks up the smooth milk chocolate and sweetness of the bean. The beans I received were a little more on the tasteless side without any flavor pops. This is a good company I think and I have really liked some of their other coffees so I’ll keep ordering but just not the Kenya AA unfortunately. All that said, their prices are some of the best for the freshness and quality of beans you get.

In general, Kenya is my favorite coffee. However, I found this particular one to be a tad too bitter so I had to lessen the amount of beans I normally grind per cup. I also found the flavor too light. I didn’t get the same taste or aromas that I am used to with Kenya. I still gave it 4 stars because the beans themselves, like all other blends of this brand, were perfect & fresh. Quality wise, this is the only brand I now buy. I simply didn’t care for this coffee flavor wise as much as I have others.

I have sampled quite a few coffees that were highly rated on Amazon. This is the best coffee that I have bought from Amazon. I have purchased 3 bags over the course of about 3 months and the quality was consistent.Update: After 8 five pound bags, I no longer feel that this deserves 5 stars. I have become much less satisfied with the flavor for about the last 3 bags. I always place enough beans in my grinder’s hopper and then use a vacuum food saver to try to split the remaining beans into a size that will fill the hopper no more than twice.

While a good roast for the price, the claim it is fresh roasted may not be accurate. Generally when I grind fresh roasted beans it is not that dry to the point of dust coming from my grinder. While it s about $10 cheaper than the coffee direct Kenya AA I am switching back to that. I find that is little more freshly roasted.

I love this coffee and I have been ordered for several time. But this time, either the weak packaging protection or poor quality of product packaging definitely ruined the taste of the coffee beams. What a waste! When I opened the package, I found the coffee beans scattered inside the packaging box. The coffee beans’ packaging was broken. It was the second time I found the packaging of coffee beans of the same brand broken.I thought it was a isolated case at the first time. But after experiencing the second time, I think problem is either the weak packaging protection or poor quality of product packaging.

The item did not have any date of roasting written, (probably because roasted too long ago) but only expiration date. The expiration date is 07/2020 and considering most sellers have the expiration date 1 year from roasting, I believe this was roasted some time July 2019 (I ordered on late August). That makes this pack of bean roasted at least 1 month ago, and maybe that is why THERE IS NO FLAVOR AT ALL!!! I tried French press, flannel drip, regular hand drip, but couldn’t get any flavor.

I love Kenya AA. This is not a good representation of that roast, even slightly. It was bland, weak and the roast was definitely not “medium-dark”. This is more like a light-medium roast. I’ve never seen Kenya AA roasted anything other than dark. I THOUGHT this might be a refreshing change. Man, was I ever wrong! I have NEVER dissed a coffee like this. Hopefully you will understand the significance of that. I’ve tried lots of coffee that, to me, was undrinkable. I should have thrown this one out after the first pot but I kept trying different settings on my Kitchenaid burr grinder and different measurements of coffee. No matter what I tried, this was just garbage!I’m giving this brand one more try with a different roast of bean only because I think they deserve a second chance. Stay tuned…
